Album Notes & Community Reviews

Having relocated to Los Angeles, the godfather of British blues assembled a purely American backing band featuring Harvey Mandel, Larry Taylor, and Don 'Sugarcane' Harris. The completely drumless, acoustic-leaning arrangements emphasize the intricate, swinging interplay between the violin, bass, and electric guitar. This unconventional instrumentation highlighted the bandleader's continuous desire to push the boundaries of the traditional blues format.
