Album Notes & Community Reviews
Commissioned specifically to soundtrack F.W. Murnau's legendary 1922 silent horror film, the incredibly prolific avant-garde composer delivers one of his darkest contemporary works. Featuring a quartet centered around Bill Laswell's heavily distorted bass and Rob Burger's haunting organ work, the album seamlessly blends creeping classical minimalism with violent outbursts of atonal metal and jazz. The project perfectly captures the dreadful, expressionist atmosphere of the cinematic masterpiece it accompanies.
