John Zorn

John Zorn

A composer, saxophonist, and a central figure in the New York downtown and avant-garde scenes since the 1980s. Zorn is known for his incredibly eclectic and prolific output, which encompasses a vast range of genres, from hardcore punk to free jazz, klezmer, and modern classical. His band Naked City was a landmark of postmodernism, known for its ability to radically shift styles in a split second. His Masada songbook masterfully blends traditional Jewish melodies with the language of Ornette Coleman.
