'Spy vs. Spy' features John Zorn applying the brevity and extreme velocity of grindcore to the acoustic compositions of Ornette Coleman. Performing with a twin-alto saxophone and dual-drum configuration, the ensemble executes Coleman's complex harmonic frameworks through aggressive, high-speed improvisation, drastically reinterpreting the source material.
