Continuing his exploration of esoteric historical themes, the endlessly prolific composer utilizes his Moonchild Trio (featuring Mike Patton on vocals) to delve into the mythology of the Knights Templar. The album is incredibly abrasive and structurally unpredictable, violently overlapping chaotic noise rock, brutal avant-garde metal, and bizarre, chanted liturgical incantations. Patton's vocal performance is largely wordless, relying on shrieks, whispers, and terrifying vocalizations to match the intense, occult-driven instrumental ferocity.
