Album Notes & Community Reviews

Decades into a legendary career serving as the musical architect for The Smiths and numerous other acclaimed bands, 'The Messenger' represents Johnny Marr's long-overdue formal solo debut. The record is a sharp, energetic collection of British indie rock, highlighted by his unmistakable, chiming guitar style and surprisingly confident lead vocals. It proved he was still a vibrant, creative force well capable of carrying a project entirely on his own shoulders.
