Johnny Marr

Biography

Manchester guitarist Johnny Marr co-founded *The Smiths* in 1982, and his bright, arpeggiated playing reshaped British indie music before the band split in 1987. He went on to play with The The, Electronic, Modest Mouse and The Cribs, and to work as a sought-after session guitarist and soundtrack collaborator. Since 'The Messenger' in 2013 he has sustained a successful solo career, with 'Playland', 'Call the Comet' and 'Fever Dreams Pts 1–4' establishing him as a frontman in his own right, his guitar style still unmistakable.
