Stepping away briefly from his heavily synthesized 'Fourth World' soundscapes, the veteran trumpeter opted for an acoustic, incredibly spacious recording captured live inside a Santa Barbara church. Co-produced by Ry Cooder, the session emphasizes long, lingering delays and dark, minimalist jazz improvisations, showcasing his distinctively breathy horn tone in a pure, unadorned environment.
