Recorded during a largely unrehearsed nighttime session, Jorge Ben's 'F么r莽a Bruta' captures a mellow, acoustic-based samba sound defined by the improvisational and groove-oriented interplay with backing band Trio Mocot贸. The album departs from Ben's earlier, carefree work by exploring themes of romantic melancholy, sensuality, and identity politics, subtly weaving in elements of funk, soul, and irony under the tense political climate of dictatorial Brazil.
