Tragic Magic

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On their first full collaborative album, 'Tragic Magic', Julianna Barwick and Mary Lattimore create an immersive set of ambient, new age compositions born from improvisation. The album merges Barwick's signature layered, ethereal vocal loops and atmospheric synth washes with Lattimore's intricate and expressive harp performance, which is given ample space to shine. Recorded in Paris with a collection of historic instruments, the resulting sound is both cinematic and dreamlike, exploring themes of tragedy and hope through grand, unfurling soundscapes and delicate, intimate melodies.
