Album Notes & Community Reviews
Justice’s seminal debut, “†”, detonated onto the 2000s bloghouse scene, forging a new, aggressive path for electronic music. The album weaponizes funk and disco samples, filtering them through a brutalist lens of extreme compression, distorted bass, and searing synthesizer stabs. This sonic maximalism creates a punishing yet paradoxically euphoric tension, pitting the apocalyptic crunch of “Genesis” and “Waters of Nazareth” against the choir-led pop innocence of “D.A.N.C.E.”. A foundational text, “†” injected a raw, rock-and-roll swagger into the digital dancefloor, defining an era with its gritty, cinematic grandeur.
