Unseen Forces

Album Notes & Community Reviews

The Michigan-based musician's second album for the Kranky label heavily features the EVI (Electronic Valve Instrument), a rare analog breath-controlled synthesizer. The tracking overlays the instrument's warm, trumpet-like electronic tones across drifting, beatless ambient drones and subtle jazz-inflected acoustic textures. The result is a uniquely expressive, deeply soothing, and highly melodic approach to contemporary minimalism.
