Album Notes & Community Reviews

After a high-profile stint in Miles Davis's final band, the incredibly gifted alto saxophonist stepped out as a leader for this remarkably assured major-label debut. 'Black Hope' features a stellar backing band, including Joe Henderson and Brian Blade, executing fiercely energetic, modern post-bop compositions. The record firmly established Garrett as one of the preeminent saxophone voices of his generation.
