Biography
A Grammy Award-winning post-bop saxophonist, Kenny Garrett is one of the most acclaimed alto players of his generation. He gained initial recognition as a member of the *Duke Ellington Orchestra* and, most famously, through his five-year tenure with *Miles Davis*'s band in the late 1980s. His powerful, versatile style is evident on his solo releases, from his debut 'Introducing Kenny Garrett' to landmark albums on #Warner Bros. Records# like 'Pursuance: The Music of John Coltrane' and 'Songbook'. Later work on #Mack Avenue Records#, such as 'Seeds from the Underground' and 'Sounds from the Ancestors', continues to explore his deep roots in jazz, gospel, and soul.
