As the band's first double album, 'Omnium Gatherum' marks a return to in-person collaborative recording and functions as a deliberately eclectic collection of the group's many sonic interests. The eighty-minute runtime embraces a vast genre palette, shifting from the eighteen-minute psychedelic prog-jam of "The Dripping Tap" to thrash metal, dream-pop, and the band's first experiments with sample-based hip-hop. This ambitious scope, born from a mix of live jamming and isolated pandemic-era songwriting, represents the band's entry into a more liberated and multifaceted creative period.
