Album Notes & Community Reviews

King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard's 'PetroDragonic Apocalypse' is a full-throated dive into thrash and progressive metal, expanding on the punishing sound explored in their 2019 album 'Infest the Rats' Nest'. Developed from structured improvisational jams, the album's lengthy songs are characterized by complex, high-energy riffing and group-vocal chants that propel a narrative of fantasy-driven apocalypse. The record's dense, aggressive production solidifies its place as a significant heavy metal entry in the band's discography and was conceived as the conceptual "yin" to the electronic "yang" of its successor, 'The Silver Cord'.
