Album Notes & Community Reviews

Serving as his Matador Records debut, this album fully established the Philadelphian songwriter's signature hazy, fingerpicked slacker rock. The production embraces a gritty, lo-fi aesthetic, washing intricate acoustic guitar melodies in layers of psychedelic distortion and tape echo. It marked a significant critical breakthrough, positioning him as a leading figure in the modern underground folk-rock revival.
