Album Notes & Community Reviews
An early effort in Larry Young's discography, 'Young Blues' finds the organist working within the established soul-jazz paradigm before he fully revolutionized the instrument's use in the avant-garde. The record features a conventional, blues-heavy groove, demonstrating his technical proficiency and deep pocket on the Hammond B-3. It is a solid, straightforward session that contrasts with his later, highly complex modal work.
