Album Notes & Community Reviews

An adventurous and conceptually rigorous project, the alto saxophonist engages in a series of intimate, one-on-one dialogues with various luminaries, including Jim Hall, Joe Henderson, and Elvin Jones. 'The Lee Konitz Duets' bridges the stylistic gap between the cool jazz of his roots and the freer improvisation of the late 1960s. The stark format lays bare his remarkable harmonic invention and unparalleled linear phrasing.
