Album Notes & Community Reviews

Serving as his astounding debut as a leader for Blue Note at only eighteen years old, the teenage trumpet prodigy instantly commands an elite sextet featuring Horace Silver and Philly Joe Jones. His remarkably bright, fiercely articulate tone effortlessly navigates the rapid-fire bebop runs with an uncanny, blues-drenched maturity far beyond his years. The explosive session heralded the arrival of a massive, definitive voice within the hard bop idiom.
