Album Notes & Community Reviews

Showcasing his uniquely imaginative approach to orchestral arranging, Les Baxter translates obscure European melodies into a sweeping, slightly surreal instrumental suite. The dense, cinematic orchestrations hint at the heavily stylized Exotica movement he would soon pioneer. It remains a fascinating, deeply atmospheric artifact of highly ambitious, early 1950s mood music.
