'Hot Heads' was the first full-length recording of bikutsi, the Beti dance rhythm of southern Cameroon, and its lyrics took on social issues rarely voiced in Cameroonian pop. Guitarist Zanzibar, born Th茅odore Ep茅m茅, fixed foam rubber to his guitar bridge so the instrument would imitate the balafon, giving founder Jean-Marie Ahanda's band its signature sound.
