Sonic Citadel

Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Sonic Citadel' presents Lightning Bolt's signature alliance of frenzied drumming and colossal bass riffs with a notably cleaner studio production that enhances the clarity of Brian Chippendale's distorted vocals. While retaining the duo's characteristically intense and punishing noise-rock energy, the album introduces more discernible melodic structures and pop-leaning sensibilities, revealing catchy vocal lines and muscular riffs within the chaos. This approach results in a more varied and accessible recording that balances their raw, improvisational power with more direct and structured songwriting.
