Biography
Lightning Bolt is a highly influential American noise rock duo that formed in 1994 in Providence, Rhode Island. The band consists of Brian Chippendale on drums and vocals and Brian Gibson on bass. They are renowned for their ferocious, high-energy live performances, which they famously play on the floor of venues rather than on a stage, creating an immersive and chaotic experience. Their sound is a maelstrom of frenetic drumming and heavily distorted bass, often processed to sound like a guitar. As pioneers of the noise rock scene, they released seminal albums like 'Wonderful Rainbow' and 'Hypermagic Mountain' on #Load Records# before moving to #Thrill Jockey#.
