Caligula

Caligula cover art

Lingua Ignota’s 'Caligula' is a vast and intricate work that merges neo-classical arrangements, choral structures, and operatic vocals with the abrasive textures of industrial, noise, and doom metal. Recorded in a studio with a wider array of acoustic instrumentation than its predecessor, the production creates a disorienting sonic environment that shifts between overwhelming grandeur and stark, claustrophobic intimacy. Inspired by personal experience, the album's central themes explore the enduring trauma and cyclical nature of abuse, misogyny, and institutional collapse, with Kristin Hayter's dynamic and intentionally visceral vocal performance serving as the primary vessel for expressing unvarnished rage and a demand for vengeance.
