Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Dread Beat an' Blood' is the debut album by Jamaican born, London based poet Linton Kwesi Johnson, credited on release to Poet and the Roots and recorded at Gooseberry Studios in London with Dennis Bovell engineering and mixing. Most of its eight tracks set poems first published in Johnson's poetry collection of the same name, and the closing track, 'All Wi Doin' Is Defendin'', anticipated the Brixton riot in detail.
