Album Notes & Community Reviews
Loren Connors structures 'Portrait of a Soul' as a cycle of solo electric guitar ballads organised around day, evening, night and dawn, an album he considers his most personal record. His improvised playing wrings ephemeral blues shades from minimal, multi-tracked guitar figures, extending the painterly abstraction that defines his free improvisation practice.
