Album Notes & Community Reviews

Featuring an understated but driving rhythm section, this session bridges the fiery pace of early bop with the more tempered, blues-inflected grooves of the emerging hard bop style. Donald Byrd's trumpet serves as an ideal counterpoint to the leader's fluid alto saxophone lines, resulting in highly cohesive ensemble interplay.
