Art Taylor

Art Taylor

Art Taylor was a quintessential hard bop drummer whose crisp, driving style made him a first-call musician for countless sessions on labels like #Prestige# and #Blue Note#. Known for his impeccable taste and propulsive swing, he was a key sideman for legends such as *John Coltrane*, *Thelonious Monk*, and *Bud Powell*, appearing on landmark albums like Coltrane's 'Giant Steps'. In addition to his prolific work as a sideman, he led his own group, Taylor's Wailers, releasing albums like 'A.T.'s Delight'. After two decades in Europe, he returned to the U.S. and revitalized his band, mentoring a new generation of musicians until his death.
