Emerging from the incredibly fertile Omaha, Nebraska music scene, the ensemble crafted a profoundly melancholic, acoustic masterpiece heavily reliant on traditional Americana instrumentation. The lush, intricate arrangements of banjos, cellos, and glockenspiels beautifully frame Mike Mogis's deeply sorrowful, poetic lyricism. The remarkably intimate, highly organic recording set a major precedent for the chamber-folk aesthetic closely associated with the Saddle Creek label.
