Following the dissolution of Magazine, Howard Devoto teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Noko to craft this deeply literate, theatrical art-pop record. The dense, synthesizer-heavy arrangements provide an appropriately dramatic and sophisticated backdrop for Devoto's intensely verbose, often cynical vocal performances.
