Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'This Old Dog', Mac DeMarco shifts from his signature jangling, lo-fi rock towards a more minimalist and polished sound palette, favoring acoustic guitars, drum machines, and synthesizers. This refined production, performed and engineered by DeMarco, provides a subdued backdrop for his most personal and mature songwriting, which explores introspective themes of aging and his complex relationship with his father. The result is a significant evolution of his sound, foregrounding a reflective, folk-centric craftsmanship over his earlier "slacker rock" persona.
