Biography
Mac DeMarco is a Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer known for his distinctive brand of lo-fi, guitar-based music, which he has dubbed 'jizz jazz'. Emerging in the early 2010s, he gained widespread acclaim for his laid-back, often chorus-drenched sound and charismatic, gap-toothed persona. His work, particularly on breakthrough albums like '2' and 'Salad Days' released on #Captured Tracks#, is characterized by woozy melodies, introspective lyrics, and a DIY recording aesthetic that has made him a highly influential figure in the 'bedroom pop' and indie rock scenes. He records his albums alone, playing all the instruments himself, and is also known for his energetic and unpredictable live performances.
