Album Notes & Community Reviews

Produced heavily by Trent Reznor, this debut introduced Marilyn Manson's theatrical shock-rock to a mainstream audience, targeting middle-American hypocrisy and media sensationalism. The gritty fusion of alternative metal, samples, and dark carnival-esque soundscapes laid the groundwork for the band's subsequent ascent as dominant pop culture provocateurs.
