New Dawn

Marshall Allen's debut solo album, 'New Dawn', presents compositions from his personal archives, offering a generally more contemplative and serene side than his work leading the Sun Ra Arkestra. The production, arranged by Knoel Scott, creates a luxurious sound palette with spiritual jazz textures, string sections, and dub-influenced electronics, supporting Allen's versatile playing on alto sax and EWI. While largely showcasing a calmer, melodic approach, the album maintains its connection to the avant-garde through Allen’s characteristically unpredictable and exploratory improvisations.
