Album Notes & Community Reviews

Though initially overshadowed by his iconic duets, this solo project rocketed to massive success following the unprecedented radio response to 'I Heard It Through the Grapevine'. The record captures the brilliant vocalist in transition, beginning to infuse the polished Motown formula with grittier textures and hints of the social consciousness that would define his masterpiece works.
