Album Notes & Community Reviews
Mastodon moves away from the sludge of their earlier work towards a cleaner, more ambitious progressive metal sound. 'Crack the Skye' is a concept album dealing with astral travel, Tsarist Russia, and the suicide of drummer Brann Dailor's sister. It is an epic, sprawling masterpiece of modern metal.
