Album Notes & Community Reviews
Mercyful Fate's debut album is a profoundly dark, occult-obsessed masterpiece that bridges the gap between the NWOBHM and the burgeoning extreme metal scene. King Diamond鈥檚 theatrical, piercing falsetto wails deliver explicitly Satanic narratives over highly complex, progressive twin-guitar wizardry. 'Melissa' is an incredibly melodic, suspenseful, and epic foundational text for black metal.
