Album Notes & Community Reviews

The legendary house band for Sigma Sound Studios delivered a masterclass in sophisticated orchestral funk on this landmark release, defining the emerging Philadelphia sound. Featuring lush, sweeping string arrangements by Thom Bell and driving, four-on-the-floor rhythms, the title track and their iconic hit 'TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)' laid the direct rhythmic and structural foundations for the disco explosion of the late 70s.
