Album Notes & Community Reviews
Michael Nyman's score for Jane Campion's film 'The Piano' is performed by the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by the composer, with Nyman himself at the piano and Michael Nyman Band members John Harle, David Roach and Andrew Findon supplying the prominent saxophone parts. Its central theme 'The Heart Asks Pleasure First' is based on the Scottish song 'Gloomy Winter's Noo Awa', and the album sold more than three million copies while earning Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations for its score.
