Album Notes & Community Reviews

The debut album from Madeline Johnston's Midwife project established her self-described 'heaven metal' sound. Recorded in the communal living space of the Denver DIY venue Rhinoceropolis, 'Like Author, Like Daughter' is a masterclass in lo-fi atmosphere and emotional weight. The album blends the heavy, distorted textures of shoegaze and doomgaze with the fragile, crawling pace of slowcore, creating a sound that is simultaneously crushing and ethereal.
