Return to Ommadawn

by Mike Oldfield

Return to Ommadawn cover art

Acting as a direct, acoustic-driven sequel to his seminal 1975 masterpiece 'Ommadawn', the legendary multi-instrumentalist constructed this record entirely on his own in the Bahamas following personal tragedy. Consisting of two sprawling, 20-minute instrumental suites, it eschews modern digital synthesizers in favor of Celtic harps, acoustic guitars, and African percussion. The album was celebrated as a remarkably triumphant, pastoral return to his foundational progressive folk sound.
