Album Notes & Community Reviews
A key statement from one of the most respected and influential pianists of his generation. 'Wingspan' is a perfect example of the sophisticated, swinging, and harmonically rich hard bop that defined the 1980s revival. Miller's powerful, McCoy Tyner-influenced piano playing is at the forefront, leading a stellar quintet that features a young Kenny Garrett on alto. It is a masterclass in modern acoustic jazz from a musician's musician.
