Wings of Africa

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Serving as a pioneering monument of the Zamrock movement, 'Wings of Africa' brilliantly fused traditional Zambian rhythmic structures with the heavy, fuzz-laden sound of Western acid rock. The ensemble eschewed standard Western drum kits in favor of indigenous percussion, establishing a fiercely independent, deeply hypnotic groove that would heavily influence the subsequent wave of Southern African rock.
