Album Notes & Community Reviews

The Mercury Prize-nominated third album from the English singer-songwriter provides a scathing critique of nationalism and the global refugee crisis. Driven by propulsive post-punk basslines and angular guitar motifs, the tracking perfectly frames her commanding, theatrical vocal delivery. The political urgency of the lyricism was heavily informed by her own heritage and the rising tide of right-wing populism in the late 2010s.
