Album Notes & Community Reviews

Fusing traditional Indian poetic structures with modern western production techniques, the artist crafted a lush crossover success. 'Qareeb' elegantly layers synthesizers and saxophone alongside classical tabla and santoor, creating an ethereal, contemporary interpretation of ghazal. The album significantly boosted the international profile of South Asian diaspora music in the late eighties.
