Album Notes & Community Reviews
Following the dissolution of the seminal post-punk band Swell Maps, the idiosyncratic English frontman launched his solo career with this delightfully ramshackle, acoustic-driven debut. 'Waiting on Egypt' trades chaotic noise for ragged, T. Rex-inspired glam-folk, heavily characterized by out-of-tune guitars and a deeply romantic, bohemian swagger. It perfectly established his lifelong persona as the quintessential underground rock troubadour.
