Written primarily during a writing retreat in El Paso, Texas, Kevin Barnes utilizes this project to intensely chronicle the dissolution of his eleven-year marriage. Sonically, it pivots away from electronic funk towards a frantic, guitar-driven homage to 1970s CBGB-era punk and glam rock. The manic, constantly shifting song structures perfectly mirror the messy, chaotic emotional volatility of the lyrical content.
