Biography
of Montreal is the Athens, Georgia indie pop project of Kevin Barnes, founded in 1996 and associated with the Elephant 6 collective. Barnes writes and sings the songs and has recorded much of the catalogue largely alone since 2004, while a rotating band performs the material live. The catalogue runs from the lo-fi psychedelia of 'Cherry Peel' through the acclaimed 'Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?' to the electronic pop of 'Lady on the Cusp' and 'aethermead'.
