Album Notes & Community Reviews

Formed from the ashes of the Rain Parade, Opal created a mesmerizing, drug-addled fusion of 60s acid rock and haunting, drone-heavy neo-psychedelia. Kendra Smith鈥檚 detached, ethereal vocals float over David Roback's distorted, hypnotic fuzz guitars, evoking a dark, expansive desert atmosphere. 'Happy Nightmare Baby' is a raw, deeply atmospheric cult classic that laid the immediate groundwork for Mazzy Star.
